Authority

John 10:18  -  No one takes it from me. I lay it down of my own free will. I have the right to lay it down; I also have the right to take it up again. I received this authority personally from my Father.”

You walk into a room, read the room… sense “who” is in the room and immediately one can know who is the ranking member in the room.   Position, age, wealth, speech, gender or posturing are not necessarily in the equation.   Everyone in the room knows who he/she is.  And, he/she knows who he/she is.    In my experience and in my opinion, this can be a good or bad person and it also can be a good or bad situation depending.   In any case, there is a gift of authority given to men and we all have a ranking system we can each feel and read beyond apparent position or wealth.  It is an authority.  Jesus walked into a room and everyone knew who was the ranking authority.   Most wanted to follow him, everyone wanted to listen to him,  the lower ranking wicked men wanted to kill Him.

Knowing our authority is critical.   Authority with authenticity is willing to lead by giving up ones life for the cause…  whatever that cause might be.  Jesus knew he had people to save by giving His life on the cross.   We have an authority given us by God.  Where do we rank?  How do we use it and when do we lay it down for the purpose of the cause?   IMO, the greater the leader,  the greater the sacrifice and willingness to pay the price.   There is an authority given to man which is beyond all human reasoning and these men/women give up their lives for the cause..  in turn, this sacrifice increases this gift of authority.   We know who we are and we know where we rank.   For this authority to grow and be of greater impact, we must be willing to lay our lives down for the cause…  what is your cause?  Mine is small church leaders, worship leaders and Hispanics leaders. You?
