We're starting something new here at the Maranatha! Blog.
Every month we'll be sharing our Top 5 Favorite Worship Songs with you!
Our hope is that you'll discover some new worship songs, or maybe rediscover some of your favorite songs.
Alright, ready to dive in? Here are my favorite worship songs for April.
1. Reckless Love (Cory Asbury, Bethel Music)
This song has been on repeat since I first heard it. In my opinion it’s been one of the most powerful worship songs that has been written in the last few years. I appreciate the rawness and intimacy and I love how it creates its own meaning for everyone who listens. We’ve all experienced God’s love in a way that is indescribable and this song seems to put it into words so perfectly. If you haven’t listened to the whole album yet, I would highly recommend it. A few of my favorites on the album also include Water and Dust, Your Love is Strong & You Won’t Let Go.
2. Who You Say I Am (Hillsong Worship)
The title song from the highly anticipated new record from Hillsong Worship is one of my favorites this month. I love songs that are declarations and this one is no exception.
3. Peace Be Still (The Belonging Co, Lauren Daigle)
I’ll admit I was a late adopter of this song but I recently decided to see what all the hype was about and ended up sitting in front of my computer at work bawling. This song just breaks something inside of you. “I’m not gonna fear the storm, You are greater than it’s roar.”
4. Defender, Rita Springer
Remember Rita Springer? Okay, I didn’t, but late last year she quietly released a new album called Battles and this song, the bridge in particular is another tear-jerker. Little known fact about me is that worship just gets me. I’ll admit that I cry the most listening to worship music. Guys cry too… But seriously check this song out!
5. What a Beautiful Name (Hillsong Worship)
I’ve probably led this a hundred times in church and listened to it thousands and I never seem to get sick of singing this song. I’ve personally dubbed this song the "How Great is Our God" of this generation. Haha, but in all seriousness how incredible is this song? Declaring the name of Jesus is one of the most powerful acts of worship that we can do. Plus, it won a Grammy!
Make sure you check out our blog post "The Name" from our President, Randy Alward.
By the way, we just released our own version of this song and my friend Hannah sings it beautifully. You can get it on our Heart of Worship: Amazing Grace Album.
